Several concepts have been proposed improving the convergence behavior of gradient acoustic echo cancellation for hands-free telephone sets by linear prediction techniques. In this contribution a detailed analysis and a significant improvement of the algorithm given in [5] is presented. Furthermore we clarify to which extent it is advantageous to use the predictive filter available in a speech decoder in a combined implementation of predictive speech coding and acoustic echo cancellation.
