In mobile telephony, listening enhancement is desired by the near end listener who perceives not only the clean far end speech but also ambient background noise. A typical scenario is mobile telephony in acoustical background noise such as traffic or babble noise. During continuous playback the thermal load of the small loudspeakers is a major limitation.
In this contribution, we adapt two previous approaches to this constraint. Furthermore, the impact of a new speech PSD estimator and state-of-the-art noise PSD tracking algorithms on the system performance is evaluated.
